Kelly Baumgarten

Kelly Baumgarten joined the News 5 team in February of 2014 as a general assignment reporter. She's a native New Yorker and recently graduated from Purchase College with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.

During her college career she interned for the national show CBS This Morning. During her time there she pitched and produced several stories that made it to air, had the opportunity to practice anchoring, and utilized social media to interact with viewers. She also had the opportunity to shadow CBS's senior correspondent, John Miller, while he interviewed notorious mobster and turned informer, Phil Leonetti, who is now in the witness protection program. It was experiences like these that made her certain that there is no other career in the world she could imagine pursuing. She also interned for the local news station Fios1 and reported for her college's news program Panther Bytes.

Kelly's passion for travel and language took her to Paris during her junior year where she lived with a French family and traveled to London, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Her dream is to become an international correspondent.

Kelly is a fitness enthusiast, avid reader, and a huge Yankee fan. She also loves classic rock and hip hop, singing, the beach, swimming and cooking.
