Lauren Conley

Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Lauren Conley joined the News 5 team in August of 2012 as a reporter. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder. Lauren earned her degree in Broadcast News from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in political science.

Lauren's journalism experience started in High School while working on the weekly broadcast news magazine, Wildcat Weekly. Though, it was her experience during college that solidified her passion for journalism. Lauren spent the summer of 2011 living in Los Angeles and interning with the NBC affiliate, KNBC. During her last semester at CU, she interned with KCNC, the CBS affiliate in Denver. She worked alongside some of the best anchors, reporters, producers and photographers these cities have to offer.

Born and raised in suburbs outside of Chicago, Lauren always hungered for adventure. Moving to Colorado for college was just the start of it. She spent a semester living in Florence, Italy and traveling all across Europe. Now, Lauren is excited to be living out her dream career in Hastings, Nebraska.

"It can be nerve wracking to move to a new city, but everyone I meet is so welcoming. It's just one of the reasons my job is more than just a job. I look forward to sharing the news and telling the stories of the people of South Central Nebraska everyday," says Lauren, of her move to Hastings.

In her free time, Lauren can be found spending time with her friends and family. She has become somewhat of an amateur chef, taking cues from her mother, who Lauren says, "is the best chef in the world, hands down!" She also loves to snowboard, even though here in Nebraska, the opportunities are few and far between.
