Nathan Gogo

Weekend Meteorologist/Weekday Reporter

Nathan Gogo joined the News 5 team in June of 2013 as the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter. Nathan graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Meteorology in May of 2013.

Growing up in the Chicagoland area, Nathan tapped into his weather interest early in high school.  He was able to witness what all four season’s offer in the highly dynamic Chicago climate including anything from crippling winter storms to life-threatening severe thunderstorms.  “What fascinates me most about weather is how much it impacts communities across the globe.  I love to be able to cover the stories that Mother Nature’s fury creates, and talk with the people affected,” said Nathan.

Nathan knew that the atmosphere is what he wanted to study, and chose Iowa State University’s well regarded program to do just that.  There he not only received his education, but was a broadcast meteorologist and weather producer for Iowa State University’s very own local television station ‘ISUtv.’  There he was able to forecast and get comfortable in front of the chroma key.

Much of Nathan’s previous experience comes from his three internships.  These include FOX Chicago News in 2010, WGN-TV Chicago in 2011, and WOI-TV Des Moines, IA in 2013.   There he was able to learn and work side-by-side with some of the most respected meteorologists in the business.

When Nathan isn’t working he likes spend time with friends and family, run, travel and watch movies.
