Shelby Fenster

Morning Anchor

Shelby joined the News 5 team in April of 2013. She is a graduate of
Syracuse University with degrees in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and in Psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Shelby has known she wanted to be a reporter from the time she was a little girl. In Elementary School she became captivated with KSDK in St. Louis. A project on Oprah sealed the deal when she was 12… Shelby was going to be a reporter!

One of Shelby’s dreams came true when she worked as a Special Projects intern at KSDK the summer of 2011. She had the privilege of working with and learning from the journalists she had admired for so many years.

The summer before her senior year, Shelby lived in Missoula, Montana where she interned for the CBS affiliate, KPAX. Shelby loved getting hands-on reporting experience and getting to know Big Sky Country.

But after 3 ½ years on the east coast in Syracuse, this Midwest girl was ready to come home! “I could not be more excited to get to know Nebraska and the people that make the Cornhusker state so special, “ says Shelby. “South Central Nebraska is home to the kindest, most welcoming, people I have ever met.”

Shelby is a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta and an adoring fan of Syracuse Basketball (Go Orange!), the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues.
