Event Description

American Baptist Women of Chapman will host a potato bake and salad luncheon April 7, 2013 at noon, followed by a 1:30 p.m. program entitled "Stories of the Pawnee" presented by Dr. Jean A. Lukesh. Dessert will be served following the program. The event will be held at the First Baptist Church, 10th and Prairie St, Chapman, NE. The public is invited attend.

Dr. Lukesh is a longtime school librarian, educator, author, editor, publisher, and presenter. She and her husband Ronald created Field Mouse Productions in 1995 to write and publish noteworthy fiction and nonfiction books, focusing on the rich heritage and history of central Nebraska.

Dr. Lukesh has won several awards for her books, including a "Texty" National Textbook Award, a Nebraska Book Award, and a Moonshell Arts and Humanities Literary Award for "The Nebraska Adventure"; an IPPY Award and two Moonbeam Bronze Medals for "Lucky Ears: The True Story of Ben Kuroki, World War II Hero," and a Western Writers of America SPUR National Finalist Award and Benjamin Franklin Finalist Award for "Wolves in Blue: Stories of the North Brothers and Their Pawnee Scouts." She is currently working on a Pawnee history book.
