Ladies LIFE Ministries of the Broken Bow Berean Church is pleased to be hosting a fascinating afternoon ministry with internationally known speaker, Gracia Burnham.
Return to event list.“Simply Jesus-Coffee with Gracia” runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the church gymnasium at 604 South H Street. On May 27, 2001, Burnham and her husband Martin, both U.S. missionaries from Kansas, were celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary at a beach resort in the Philippines when they were kidnapped by a group of Al-Qaeda linked Muslim extremists. They were held hostage in a jungle for 376 days where they faced near starvation, illness and exhaustion, were chained to a tree and feared captors would follow through on threats to be-head them. At times, the couple wondered if God had forgotten them. During a rescue attempt in June 2002, Martin and another hostage were killed. Gracia Burnham was the lone surviving hostage, although she had been shot in the leg. Since that time, Gracia has authored two books and uses speaking engagements to tell her story.
