Amy joined the News 5 team in January 2010 as a graduate from Brigham Young University where she majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish. She also served as a reporter and anchor for the university's "Daily News" and interned at KTVX in Salt Lake City producing the evening webcast and maintaining the station's website. While television news is her passion, Amy worked as a writer, photographer and assistant editor for Schooled Magazine in Provo, Utah.
Hailing from Utah, Amy is excited for opportunities to learn from new experiences. In between her schooling, she has spent a year and a half in Chile where she learned to speak Spanish fluently, and is anticipating new adventures here in Nebraska.
"People are amazing,” Amy says. “There are so many unique and engaging people everywhere I go and I can't wait to tell the stories of the people in Nebraska." In many ways, Amy believes she can be regarded as an idealist and it is her desire for truth which has lead her into journalism. “I probably get laughed at for that, considering the stigma
journalism has acquired, but I believe in an active pursuit of truth and can't think of anything else I'd rather do with my life.”
In her down time, Amy loves running and has even run the 26 miles of Utah's "Top of Utah" marathon. She also loves to read classic literature and applies her writing and photography experience to keep up to date on her scrapbooking--which she's sure will have many new volumes from her new life in Nebraska.
