It was a big night for Republicans in Nebraska Tuesday night winning all three congressional races. It was also a big night for Republicans in the senate race as Deb Fischer claims victory in the much talked about, highly anticipated race.

In front of an enthusiastic crowd of supporters Tuesday night:

"Thank you, Nebraska, we did it."

The newly minted Senator-elect made a promise to Nebraskans:

"I will serve you with honesty and integrity. You know what, we're going to build a better America."

Deb Fischer becomes one of 18 women who will serve in the Senate this January.

"I recently received a call from Bob Kerrey, he offered me congratulations and I thank him," said

Fischer beat her Democratic opponent Bob Kerrey by a 16-percent margin taking 58 percent of the vote.

"I thank Mr. Kerrey for his service to our country, I thank Mr. Kerrey for his service to our state," said Fischer.

At his election party in LaVista, Kerrey acknowledged he was a longshot to win this election saying quote, from the beginning, we knew that this would be an uphill struggle.

Back in Lincoln, one of Fischer's supporters, Senator Mike Johanns, promised the two will work together for a better Nebraska.

"There will be no Senate team that will work harder than the Fischer Johanns team in Washington, I promise you," Johanns said.

Fischer did acknowledge there will be a tough road ahead:

"These are serious times. We can and we must tackle the serious issues before us."

But she says she's up for the challenge.

"I stand with you here tonight and I will stand for you and fight for you in Washington."
