We're just 5 days away from the 2010 general election. News 5 spoke with Mark Stoj, the Democratic candidate for the Nebraska state treasurer Wednesday and Thursday News 5 caught up with the Republican candidate for the position.

Don Stenberg is from Omaha Nebraska. He has held the office of attorney general for the state of Nebraska from 1990 to 2002.

He has been in private law for 20 years and in state government for 16 years.

He was also Nebraska's Republican nominee for United States Senate in 2000.

Stenberg said if he is elected for the position he is prepared to deal with what ever decision the voters make on keeping or eliminating the position of the Nebraska's State Treasurer.

"If it's kept, I think my state government management experience and background in financial issues and a master's degree in business; I think that makes me the best qualified candidate to continue to operate the office. I think if the amendment were to pass and the office be eliminated, my background as former director of department of administration services and top aid to a former governor gives me the overview of state government . It would be effective in getting the duties reassigned in other parts of state government.

Don Stenberg is currently on a four day one thousand mile tour of the state.

The democratic candidate, Mark Stoj, is also from Omaha.
