U.S. Senate candidates head back to campaign trail
The two candidates for Nebraska's U.S. Senate seat are wasting no time kicking their campaigns into high gear. Republican Deb Fischer began a statewide "thank you" tour Wednesday morning.
That tour will include stops Friday in Grand Island and Kearney. Meanwhile, Fischer's Democratic challenger, Bob Kerrey is in Kearney Thursday morning and will be in Hastings Thursday afternoon. Tuesday, he made a stop at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island. A hot topic of discussion continued to be Fischer's surprise win over Jon Bruning. Kerrey said he felt the anti Bruning ads paid for by a political action committee that ran the weekend before the election severely damaged Nebraska's Attorney General and in turn, helped lift Fischer to victory. As Kerrey shifts his focus to the general election, the former Senator says it is not just about defeating his opponent. We'll have coverage of Kerrey's stop in Hastings Thursday night on News 5. |
