Hastings High student goes to the Rose Bowl Parade
It's not everyday you're recruited to be in one of the biggest parades of the year. For Hastings Senior High junior Josh Lindeteigen, it's an honor to march in the 2011 Pasadena Rose Bowl Parade on New Year's Day.
A cold winter evening feels a little warmer thanks to Josh Lindeteigen.
In the days leading up to Christmas this Senior Soldier of the Hastings Salvation Army church played his horn by the familiar Red Kettles throughout Hastings.
But on January 1st Josh will play to a much larger crowd as he marches in the Pasadena New Year's Day Rose Bowl Parade.
"I expect it to be a really big thing – lots of people are going to be watching. The majors here at the core they nominated me and I guess it was gods will that I just got accepted," said Lindeteigen.
Josh isn't the only one gearing up for the event.
"We're very proud of Josh and his accomplishments for the last few years so we think it's appropriate that he goes and represents us," said Major Abe Tamayo.
Major Abe Tamayo broke out his band figurines in honor of the trumpet player – of course Josh will be part of a much larger —120 piece — band.
He's been very faithful to the Salvation Army running our sound booths practicing his horn and helping around here. He does a lot more behind the scenes than people are aware of so he's been a real benefit to us.
And you can bet Josh's friends and family will be watching him back home – which could make anyone a little nervous.
"Just gonna ignore how many people are going to be watching, think that there's only two or threem: said Lindeteigen.
And welcome in the New Year with a blast of music.
You can watch Josh in the 122nd Rose Bowl Parade on channel 5 January 1st at 10:00 am.
