While smoking and obesity are known risk factors for an early death - experts now say inactivity is also deadly. In fact, they say more than 5 million deaths worldwide are due to a sedentary lifestyle.

The research was published in a special issue of the journal The Lancet.

Experts analyzed data from several studies and found about 1 in every 10 deaths around the world is due to inacitivity.

They say people who don't exercise are more likely to develop cancer, Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease.

However, they say hundreds of thousands of lives could be saved every year by getting up and moving - even walking at a moderate pace could help.
