Some people are dealing with more than just a cough and a sneeze this week. It continues to be a season for all kinds of illnesses. News 5's Ginger ten Bensel has an update in "What's Going Around?"

Fifth Disease and strep throat are just two of the illnesses going around this week.

Doctor Janice Kutilek with the Grand Island Clinic says she's also seen several patients with RSV. Otherwise known as Respiratory Syncytial Virus, patients with RSV cough a lot and wheeze.

Plus, they usually have a low grade fever and they breathe much faster than normal.

Kutilek has also seen patients with Bacterial Pneumonia. Those patients look sicker, act sicker and run a higher fever.

With both illnesses the patient needs to see a doctor.

As we mentioned, Dr. Kutilek has also seen patients with Fifth Disease, also known as slapped cheek. The illness is caused by the Parvovirus.

A patient with Fifth Disease will have rosy red cheeks with no fever and no cold symptoms.

The most noticeable thing with the illness is the rash.

Doctor Michael Johnson with the Hastings Family Practice says he's still seeing a number of patients with respiratory viruses.

Colds and Bronchitis are still going around plus he's seen several cases of strep throat.

Doctor Michael Hanich with the Kearney Clinic says that he's seen a lot of patients come into his office with bronchitis, too. He also says that since the weather did not get as cold as usual people will have more trouble with allergies this year.
