2 suspects arrested after Henderson farmhouse raid

by Dara Newson

Two people remain behind bars Wednesday night, after the Nebraska Swat Team found bomb making materials, guns and drugs at their farmhouse south of Henderson.

It was an anonymous tip that led the sheriff's department to the rental home at 120 road 2 With a search warrant.

News 5s Dara Newson spoke with Sheriff Dale Radcliff and his department team Wednesday, they told News 5 they used the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team, because explosives were involved and they were uncertain what would be waiting for them at the house, and rather be safe than sorry.

Drug paraphernalia containing methamphetamine, three hand guns and six standard rifles all seized in one day.

And top it off, Sheriff Radcliff says they discovered the guns were stolen.

"An individual seen it on the news and said those look like my guns and he checked and those were his guns," said Dale Radcliff, York County Sheriff.

Jennifer Lear, 32 years old was arrested at the scene. She's been charged with felony child abuse.

Since her children were present when illegal activity took place.

Those three children were taken into immediate protective custody.

33 year old Melvin Lear was found about a half mile from the property, officials stopped him leaving the residence. He's being charged with possession of methamphetamines, possession of material to make explosives and drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Radcliff says other charges are pending with the York County Attorney's office.

"Several years ago we had some meth labs in the county and I feel lucky in York we have a real aggressive prosecutor that's good at stuff like this" said Radcliff.

There are indications that Lear was likely dealing drugs, but the explosive material remains under investigation, officials don't know what the bombs were intended for.

"We'd like to ask people if they do have any kind of information like that to give us a call," said Radcliff.

Jennifer and Melvin Lear remain in custody and no charges have been made yet.

Deputies say the federal government will likely get involved as the case undergoes further investigation.
