The standoff that had the small town of Alliance at a standstill yesterday ended Wednesday morning.
The suspect is dead. His father is, too.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the standoff started just before 9 a.m. MDT, Tuesday.
Andres Gonzalez tried to rob an Alliance pharmacy, and in the process took the owner hostage.
During the day, two law enforcement officers were shot by Gonzalez.
A third was injured during the confrontation.
Eventually the hostage, 62 year old Charles Lierk, escaped.
Police continued to negotiate with Gonzalez well into the night.
Around 10:30 p.m. MDT, police and Gonzalez exchanged gunfire, and he was found dead an hour later.
Gonzalez's father, Larry Gonzalez, was found dead in his home Tuesday morning.
