One local hospital is celebrating a milestone. Saint Francis Medical Center of Grand Island is celebrating 125 years of service to the community.

The hospital offered live music, displays, and activities for the public.

They also offered a Kid's Teddy Bear Clinic, treating stuffed animals as the patient.

"As part of the Emergency Room, we helped with the Teddy Bear Clinic where kids could check in their teddy bears and get them evaluated by the doctor," said Amelia Swanson, Nursing Clinical Manager at Saint Francis Medical Center. "It helps expose them to the emergency room, if they were to have to come there as a real patient."

Saint Francis Medical Center opened in 1887.

The hospital has grown from a community hospital to a regional referral center with 100 physicians and more than 1,100 employees.
