St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings celebrated a milestone on Sunday and a special guest joined the festivities.

Newly appointed Bishop of Lincoln, James Conley, led parishioners in a mass marking the 100th anniversary of the church's dedication.

The event included the same songs from the original ceremony 100 hundred years ago.

Earlier in the day, the Bishop attended another gathering with parishioners from St. Michael's in Hastings.

He's used this weekend to learn more about the landscape of his diocese.

At today's dedication, Bishop Conley had a piece of history around his neck.

"This cross I'm wearing is over 100 years old," said Bishop Conley. "It's the cross of Bishop Tian who was the second Bishop of Lincoln and 3rd Bishop of Denver and he is the Bishop that consecrated this Church, 100 years ago."

Monday night on News 5, we'll have a sit down interview with the 9th Bishop of Lincoln.

He talks about a number of topics ranging from how to keep Catholic schools open to the Affordable Health Care Act.
