Aurora Coop breaks ground on new headquarters
They call it an investment in the future of agriculture. The official groundbreaking for Aurora Cooperative's new corporate headquarters.
But the headquarters will be much more than just office space; it will be a place for future farmers and their love of ag. "I wasn't real sure why the CEO of one of my major clients was calling me while I was on vacation at home on my cell phone and then he said, 'I want to come over and talk with ya,'" said Maile Ilac Boder, Executvie Director, The Leadership Center. And with that the partnership between Aurora Cooperative and the Learning Center was born. "Every community we service in Nebraska will benefit as they send their FFA and 4H kids to visit and use the campus including our office building," said George Hohwieler, Aurora Cooperative President & CEO. "I see a bright future for all Nebraska children that are interested in agriculture," said Nebraska Director of Agriculture Greg Ibach. Aurora Coop was established in 1908 and since its inception has become a nearly billion dollar business. One of the largest coops in the Midwest. "Our people places, things, and ideas are demanded by farmers every year more and more, we're grateful for their response," said Hohwieler. The Leadership Center is used extensively by Nebraska FFA members. And the new partnership shows the vested interested by both the coop and the center in the future of Nebraska Agriculture. "Today we mark the next step in the evolution of the leadership center," said Nebraska Vocational Agriculture Foundation President Kurt Wissenburg. "This is an idea that I think is innovation at its core and it's right, it's right, and that's something we've all been saying that this is the right kind of move, this is the right kind of tenant and this is the right kind of partnership," said Maile Ilac Boder. The governor, along with the president and CEO of Aurora Coop, and the executive director of the Learning Center joined in the official groundbreaking of the new multi-million dollar facility. "I speak for the thousands of farmers who own the aurora cooperative, when i say we will not disappoint you," Hohwieler said. The Leadership Center has lodging, meeting spaces, and food services, and has been hosting Nebraska FFA events for years. The new headquarters of Aurora Cooperative are scheduled to be completed in October of next year. |
