BEER Party candidate will run in 2012

by KHAS-TV

There's all this speculation as to whether or not Sarah Palin plans to run for president in 2012. But one Nebraska man said for sure he's putting his name on the ticket.

Meet Les Vilda of Wilber.

News 5 first caught up with him three years ago when he ran as a write–in candidate in the last election.

He got at least ten votes then. This time he's hoping for two million.

Les is a member of the BEER Party–which he started himself. The party mascot is a cross between a bear and a deer...Beer.

We asked him what kind of platform he's running on and here's what he had to say:

"The platform - an 8x14 made of redwood sits off the back of my house and I believe that anybody running for an office as prestigious as the President of the United States you need a good, strong, solid platform. And I'm very proud to tell you that mine can hold up to 30 grown adults at one time and it's still standing strong."

Les made a special appearance Saturday at the United Nebraska Muzzleloaders Association Convention in Kearney.
