Black Friday apps help you navigate sales

It's labeled as the biggest shopping day of the year: Black Friday. But this holiday season, if you don't feel like rushing to the store after your turkey dinner, you may be in luck.

It's almost that time of year: turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and early morning lines.

That's right, with Thanksgiving less than a week away that means the biggest shopping day of the year is, too.

"Retailers are really changing how they're doing business, whether it be online, stores opening earlier, staggering their Black Friday specials. So that's a lot to keep up with," said Verizon Wireless Store Manager Pam Sundermeier.

And that's why there are new smartphone applications to help you keep up with the hottest deals and biggest markdowns.

"So you're not racing back and forth across town or sitting at home trying to pour through all of those paper ads," Sundermeier said.

Maybe you plan on staying in after filling up on your Thanksgiving meal. Well, you can do all your early morning shopping with the touch of a button.

"There's some online shopping Black Friday apps that you can find when those particular items that you're looking at are going to go on sale online, so you don't have to go out and fight the crowds," said Sundermeier.

That's right. You can purchase that new purse or electronic device from your smartphone.

"That'd be good, because family is very important," said Hannah Vesley.

Hannah Vesley is going to try some of the new smartphone apps for her Black Friday shopping.

"Yeah, I think so because if I'm looking for something I can find it easier on my phone than trying to find it elsewhere," said Vesley.

But if you like the hustle and bustle of the rush of shoppers, then your electronic device can help during your shopping spree, as well.

You can either do your Black Friday shopping right on your smartphone or you can take it with you to find the best deals.

"So you know at this time I need to be here instead of standing in line wondering what the specials are going to be," said Sundermeier.

Meaning you'll be first in line to purchase that new Furby.

Plus, most of the Black Friday apps are free.

"It's a huge convenience. It lists many of your retailers especially the local ones that we have and how many Black Friday specials that they have, so you can really streamline that, get all of your Christmas shopping ready to go," Sundermeier said.
