Bob Kerrey reacts to recent Deb Fischer ads

Deb Fischer's opponent in the fall is already calling foul finding ways to start breaking the Republican candidate down. Wednesday at a press conference in Grand Island, Bob Kerrey publicly bashed the recent ads that aired over the weekend.

The ads attacked Bruning, saying that anyone would be better. But opposition is coming from how those ads were financed.

Billionaire Joe Ricketts spent $250,000 on the weekend campaign, which included a pro-Deb Fischer ad.

Bob Kerrey and Ben Nelson are reacting to the ads Wednesday.

"Obviously, well-funded special interest groups saturated the airways with attack ads. They know that and they did that, and there's no question but what special interest money won that, that election," said Nelson.

"The problem is that it is very distracting because it moves numbers, it effects public opinion so I think we have to reverse that citizens united decision or it's going to be exceptionally difficult for anybody to run for office other than those who have the support of these outside organizations," Kerrey said.

Kerrey says that Ricketts support probably has an alternative motive and that ultimately Fischer could end up owing him in return.
