Bosselman store manager comments on sex trafficking bill

by Katie Gauthier

Massage Parlors, strip Clubs, and truck Stops may have to post the number of a human trafficking hotline near their entrances. That is if a new bill passes. It was introduced during a legislative hearing Thursday.

Senator Amanda McGill's LB 1145 would increase penalties for pandering if the offender has prior convictions or if the person being enticed into prostitution is a minor.

At Bosselman's Travel Center just south of Grand Island the store's manager says he's never seen it before at his store, but agrees with the move.

It's also an important bill for truck drivers. According to one that we spoke with, human trafficking is still a problem on the highways.

The bill also requires special training for police, prosecutors, judges and other government officials who may encounter prostitutes.
