A surprising verdict in Grand Island. 2 years after he was first arrested for the murder of 17 year old Walid Omar Aden, Arkanjelo Kot is found not guilty.

The case went to the jury Monday afternoon. About the same time Tuesday they had made their decision.

The defense argued he feared for his life and used a firearm in self defense, while the prosecution said he deliberately shot the teen of anger and rage.

Arkanjelo Kot pleaded not guilty to the first degree murder of Walid Omar Aden.

Kot and Aden were involved in an altercation at a Pump and Pantry in Grand Island back in 2010.

News 5's Dara Newson was live at the courthouse Tuesday. View the video for her full report.
