Brickyard Park celebration leaves mess behind

4th of July fireworks celebration at Brickyard Park in Hastings seemed to go off without a hitch... until the show was over.

Wednesday night's display began around the time the sky got dark, but once everyone left you could see all of the trash that was left behind.

For some, seeing the aftermath at Brickyard put a damper on the celebration.

In fact, one woman we spoke with says she's never seen anything like it.

"I think it's ridiculous and pathetic. I mean, there are trash cans right there. And there's garbage everywhere. It only requires a few extra steps to throw your trash away. Why leave the park like this? Somebody's gonna have to stay here to clean this mess up," said Shelley Neemeyer.

News 5 spoke with the Hastings Parks and Recreation Department and they told us that the trash was all cleaned up by around noon Thursday and is actually pretty normal.
