When they're not building houses, they're planning ahead to build their next home. A big part of that is coming up with funding. Friday night the Grand Island Area Habitat For Humanity is hoping to raise enough money to pay for the first home they'll build in 2013.

Friday night they are hosting their annual "Build a Dream Event."

The event includes a dinner, silent and live auction. Items range in value from $25 to $8,000 with everything from home décor, and flying lessons to a home heating and cooling system.

It takes a lot of volunteers to put on these fundraisers and to build the homes and the woman behind the local organization is Dana Jelinek.

The thousand of dollars raised Friday night will fund construction costs for the 71st home. And work begins in just about a month.

This event sold out, but people can help next week: Eat at Ruby Tuesday on Feb. 15, 16, and 17 to help support Habitat for Humanity.
