CPI Lansing facility faces OSHA fines

A grain storage facility in Red Cloud is facing $144,000 in fines from OSHA.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the CPI Lansing, LLC location was cited with 3 safety violations.

OSHA says the CPI facility allowed workers to enter grain bins while sweep augers were operating.

They didn't ensure workers were wearing body harnesses and lanyards while working in the bins.

And proper rescue equipment wasn't provided.

Another violation was a a deficient handrail on a stairway.
