Changes in Nebraska Foster Care Review Board

Two members of Nebraska Foster Care Review Board won't get reappointed. Governor Dave Heineman sent letters to Alfredo Ramirez and Ron Albin, informing them that their terms end January 1st.
A spokeswoman for Heineman says the governor often changes board appointments to involve more people. The unpaid review board has been critical of efforts to privatize Nebraska's child welfare system.
But the governor says changes needed to be made.
"What we've done in Nebraska for the past forty years hasn't worked. We have the highest percentage of out of home placements in America," said Governor Dave Heineman.
Last year, private agencies began taking over welfare services. Since then at least three have of those agencies ended their contracts with the state due to infrastructure or financial problems.
