Saturday night was Heartland Pet Connection's 5th annual Chocolate Afur.

The night started off with a busy silent auction.

Heartland Pet Connection takes in about 1,200 animals a year.

The annual Chocolate Afur helps to raise a large portion of the funding the shelter needs.

It's all to help pay for the basic care of homeless animals.

"This has grown by leaps and bounds," said Lynn Jasnoch, Executive Director of Heartland Pet Connection. "The first year we were just hoping people came, now we're selling out tickets and there's almost a standing line for people wanting to get in."

The event raised $25,000 last year.

This year they're hoping to break the $30,000 mark.
