Christmas meals spread holiday cheer

During the holiday you can always count on delicious meals, gifts from loved ones and happy spirits. And with all the love and gift giving, it's no wonder Christmas is considered the most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas Carols were sung Monday as the Knights of Columbus sponsored a Christmas Eve lunch for all families, children, singles, and couples.

The free meals were hosted at the St. Mary's Cathedral Square Parish Hall in Grand Island.

Turkey dinners were made possible through community donations and 72 volunteers helped serve. We all came with an empty stomach and now we're all leaving with a happy stomach," said Daniel Freguso.

This is the 25th anniversary for the dinner.

A thousand people were served Monday.

Tuesday St. Paul's Lutheran's Church in Grand Island will also host a dinner from noon-2pm for those unable to celebrate with family and friends.
