Christmas returns down this year for some

Perhaps the weather played a role in some shoppers not heading back to the store to return those unneeded or unwanted Christmas gifts they got under their tree Tuesday.

News 5 spoke with Allen's Superstore in Hastings Wednesday and according to the store's customer service department, they only saw a fraction of the returns they usually see going from 150 last year at this time to only about 50 Wednesday.

"We had extra stuff back here too because we thought we'd be bombarded, but no. We actually sent one person off to do something else. Yeah, we were really surprised," said Heather Fitzgerald.

We also spoke with K-Mart in Hastings. Different from Allens, they saw a steady line of customers taking back their gifts.
