Spring fever intensifies as cold weather hangs on
It may say spring on the calendar. But, winter has been extended another week and some people might have a case of the Spring Time Blues.
Instead of hitting the golf course or the park, residents are stuck inside. More snow Friday morning had residents dealing with slick roads on their Friday commute to work. And, don't expect to get outside much this weekend either as more snow is in the forecast. Late last week we had temperatures in the 70's. Some people were ready for spring and began planting their flowers. But, they'll have to cover them up for the next week. After a warm March a year ago, we are paying the price in 2013. But, that's Nebraska weather for you. "I think we were a little bit spoiled after March of 2012, which was so nice as we had six or eight 80-degree days last March and spring started so, really, I think we just expect that to happen this year and it'll just start a little bit later," said Mike Moritz, National Weather Service. "This time last year the average was I believe in the 80's. We were all ready in full force. We had all of our plants in and business was blooming and right now things are pretty much quiet and a lot slower than last year," said Earl May Manager Preston Hobelman. Now Preston also says you can plant your onions and potatoes this time of year. But be careful. And, once again if your flowers have already started to bloom then make sure you cover them. |
