Crossroads invites public to volunteer opportunities
Volunteers, volunteers, volunteers! It's a great time to serve and the Crossroads Rescue Mission is asking for your service in the facility. Kyle Martindale spoke with News 5 about the possibilities:
Amy West: Lots of opportunities for people to serve there.
Kyle Martindale: Yes, ma'am, we're looking for volunteers to help us in the kitchen whether it be an hour or two a week or however much time you have to give for any of these things. Helping in the kitchen, the sorting room for the thrift store or in the store itself or at the front desk in the evenings or whatever time you have to spare. And we also have groups come in quite regularly and prepare a meal, clean up after a meal and kinda spend some time with the guests.
Amy: Which is a great idea because if you don't have time yourself to come regularly you can just setup a time with your group to all come and do a lot at once and maybe a month later do it again.
Kyle: Yeah, we have a few church groups that come in once a month. They bring in food and either prepare it there or cook it ahead of time and serve the guests and then spend some time with the guests. So it's a great time for the community fellowship. It's really valued by our guests and by the groups that come in as well.
Amy: Of course, whenever you give something you always get a little something in return. And this is your thrift store in the Hastings location. Are you looking for volunteers in Kearney as well?
Kyle: We are. They have volunteers for classes and for the office as well and for helping out in the kitchen. So, for Hastings contact me firstname.lastname@example.org. Our volunteer coordinator for Kearney is John Lange and you can contact him either through our Kearney phone number or at email@example.com. We talk to each other as well so if you get the wrong one we can get you figured out.
Amy: Fantastic. Thank you so much, Kyle, for being here.
