The Crossroads Rescue Mission thrift store has undergone some big renovation changes over the last several months. Dan Saalfeld from the Crossroads Rescue Mission visited with News 5 Wednesday morning about the new resource.

Amy West: It's fairly new. You just have some renovations in the last 6 months. Tell us about the store.

Dan: We've only been there 4 months now and we have completely redone the whole store. They renovated it. And now we've went ahead and made it look like a department store.

Amy: And do you have department-like items in there? What do you have?

Dan: We have a furniture store, a furniture department with all the accessories - lamps, mirrors, pictures. We have a full line of clothing - men's, women's, newborn to teenagers. We have a bedding department, housewares department, library of books, videos.

Amy: Anything you can think of it sounds like!

Dan: Anything and everything and it's all attractively displayed so people can find it. I call Crossroads the best kept secret in Hastings because not everyone knows where it's at or it even exists.

Amy: The proceeds go to help the main cause of the mission, correct?

Dan: All the money that is received goes to fund the needs of Crossroads.

Amy: And where do you get these items from? Can people donate things?

Dan: Yes, ma'am. Donations are accepted 24/7.

Amy: And are you looking for anything specific?

Dan: We still need winter coats - especially for men. Winter's not over so we need that. And bedding. Box springs and mattresses.

Amy: Alright, thank you so much, Dan, for being here.
