Howard County is still waiting on the blood test results for Grand Island Mayor Jay Vavricek, after he was pulled over on suspicion of DUI Saturday night.

Captain Chris Kolb at the Nebraska State Patrol says the incident was handled like any other traffic stop.

Field sobriety tests were conducted and preliminary breath tests were also given.

Mayor Vavricek was sent to the hospital in St. Paul for alcohol blood level testing.

It'll take a week for those results to come in.

At this point no charges have been filed, but an arraignment date is set for April 17th in Howard County.

News 5 contacted Mayor Vavricek and he said he has no further comment regarding the issue.
