Deb Fischer refuses to support Hagel confirmation

Tools

Thursday the Senate Armed Services Committee was supposed to vote on the confirmation of former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel as the next Secretary of Defense.

That's been delayed, but it has brought about the first division between the state's two Republican Senators.

Deb Fischer officially came out today against Hagel as Defense Secretary.

She told the Omaha World Herald Thursday that she found Hagel's testimony last week to be "confusing and contradictory."

Speaking of contradictions, Mike Johanns is in support of Hagel joining President Obama's cabinet, but is also one of nearly two dozen Senators that delayed Thursday's vote. The group wants to look deeper into Hagel's financial records.
