Dense fog causes fatal accident

For the second day in a row we dealt with that dense fog. Early Monday morning it caused slick roads and caused at least three serious crashes in the area.

One of them, a fatality, and we now know the name of the victim.

43 year old Robert Guenette of St. Libory was killed when his vehicle was struck nearly head on.

It happened around 7:30 this morning near the St. Libory Fire Hall.

The Nebraska State Patrol says 29 year old Crystal Hopkins hit a patch of ice and slide into the oncoming lane hitting Guenette's car nearly head on.

Hopkins was taken to St. Francis Medical Center. She was treated and released.

While the State Patrol was handling that accident, another one happened, also in Howard County.

This 2 vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 281 and 58.

The driver of a Chevy Impala lost control on the ice and collided with the SUV.

Both drivers were taken to Saint Francis with knee, ankle, and shoulder pain.

That accident held up traffic in the area for about 30 minutes.
