Exceptional drought increases across Nebraska

Tools

The most recent drought monitor has a little good news, but also a little bad news. The good news is that recent rains stabilized drought conditions in Iowa.

But the bad, that dry conditions in have intensified in other farming states.

Much of the middle United States is still suffering some form of drought.

In Iowa, one storm dumped much needed rain, improving the drought conditions.

Another change that helped ease conditions, lower temperatures.

Many areas in from the Midwest to the south saw highs in the 80's rather than the 100's.

Drought conditions are affecting corn, soybeans and hay - leading to reduced yields and earlier harvests.

Here in Kansas and Nebraska, however, we aren't faring well.

The amount of land in exceptional drought actually increased this week.

Joe Thompson joins us at the desk for the latest on this week's drought monitor update.
