Equal fault given in Blue Hill bus crash

Tools

One month after a fatal Blue Hill bus crash, the State Patrol says both the driver of the bus and the driver of the semi were at fault. The crash happened at County Road R and 1800 Road just south of Blue Hill, September 5th.

An accident reconstruction by the State Patrol shows both the semi and the bus entered that intersection at the same time.

It shows they both had an unobstructed view of the roadway and the opportunity to see each other.

The State Patrol says the driver of the semi, 21 year old Travis Witte, did not have a Class A Commercial Driver's License.

59 year old Marla Wentworth, the driver of the bus, failed to yield the right of way to the semi on her right.

Both drivers and two students were killed. 5 others were injured.
