Fairgoers share their favorite midway rides
For some the highlight of the fair is the food, for a few it's the animal shows and for others it's the rides. You can go on and on about the many things the State Fair has to offer and what the fair is known for.
But some say the fair isn't the same without the rides. News 5's Dara Newson shows us what Midway ride tops many fairgoers list. As soon as the gates open they run to be to the first one in line. "My favorite ride is the Rock and Roll because you ride it backwards and you ride it forwards and the guy just screams and yells put your hands in the air all the time." It's these kids mission to hit every ride at the Midway. But only a few rides that top their list. "The best ride here at the Midway is the Ring of Rire because you get to do all sorts of flips. It's just a sliding feeling, just pumped to go ride on it." "I would have to say my favorite ride is for here at the State Fair would either be Rocking and Roll or the Ring of Fire." "Definitely this one, it was just really exhilarating. You're just in the air, you don't do anything about it. It's hard to see because all you see is the tracks leaving and getting smaller as you're going away." There's almost a tie between the Ring of Fire and Rock and Roll, but Rock and Roll takes the lead. The midway has a total of 40 rides, but fairgoers say that Rock and Roll is the best one so I decided to get on it and try for myself. Well, there you have it folks. That's Rock and Roll. It goes 50 mph and there's 4900 pieces for this ride While it's no Worlds of Fun all that the Midway has to offer it's just enough for this crowd. "When you go down your stomach goes up and it's just very exciting." "You stick to a wall. When are you going to stick to a wall?" Then there are the junior rides. And what tops the best for these toddlers? "This one - the dragon because it goes really fast." "Roller-coaster." "Merry-go-round." "Motorcycles, cause it goes really fast!" Clearly anything that goes fast and forces them to scream. If you didn't know already, the Midway opens at 1:00 during the weekday and the weekend and rides will operate as long as there is a crowd. |
