A familiar face within the halls of Grand Island city council could be back behind his old desk.

Grand Island Mayor Jay Vavricek has announced his recommendation for John Collis to be the city's next public works director.

This will be Collin's second go round with Grand Island.

He served as public works director for the city from March of 2011 to July of 2012.

Collins left his post to take a position with the state of Louisiana.
He managed a staff of 89 employees.

If approved by Grand Island City Council Collins will get a pay increase as his new salary will be for more than $101,000.
