Farm Futures survey shows corn yields down for 2012

A recent survey by the magazine Farm Futures shows farmers grew less corn than originally was expected in 2012. The survey shows that growers raised 10.62 billion bushels of corn in November.

That's below the USDA'S November estimate of 10.725 bushels.
These results were released Thursday at the annual Farm Futures summit in St. Louis.

Experts at the summit say after three disappointing corn crops in a row, good yields in 2013 will be crucial to rebuilding inventories.

Producers say they intend to increase corn seeds to 97.75 million in 2013. That's a little less than 1 percent more than in 2012.

The Survey also says that while producers will increase their corn ground this upcoming year, they'll cut down on soybeans.
