Fatal accident near Fairfield Friday night

One person was killed and several injured in a car accident near Fairfield Friday night.

Eighteen year old, Casie Gibbs, was killed in the accident.

The accident took place around 8 p.m. on Hwy 74, three miles east and one mile south of Fairfield.

Gibbs was driving northbound on Road O when she drove in front of a pick-up that was traveling eastbound on Hwy 74.

Three other teenagers were also in the vehicle. Two were treated and released from Mary Lanning Healthcare.

Another passenger was life-flighted to a hospital in Lincoln and is in critical condition.

The driver of the pick-up, Kenneth Schuck of Edgar, was also treated and released from Mary Lanning.

According to the Clay County Sheriff's Office, autopsy reports are pending.

Seat belts were not used in either vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation.
