Just two weeks after Grand Island city administrator Mary Lou Brown was asked to step down, the mayor made his recommendation for an interim administrator to replace her.

Marlan Ferguson, president of the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation has been recommended by the mayor after conferring with GI city council members, and the board of trustees of the Economic Development Corporation.

Mayor Jay Vavricek says Ferguson has a lifetime of experience, knowledge and his trust to be city administrator.

"He knows the city, he knows the people he knows inner workings of government I think he can work well with our city council members in such a way that work would be very positive going forward," said Vavricek.

Ferguson's appointment as interim city administrator will be scheduled for council consideration at their July 24th meeting with employment beginning not later than August 6th.
