If you've driven on Highway 281 north of Hastings in the past few days, you've probably seen them. Utility workers.

But, many people are wondering, what are they doing?

Verizon Wireless is laying fiber optic cable for their 4G LTE network.
This is an entirely new network. In fact, it operates as an overlay to the current 3G network.

Verizon is making efforts to bring the new network to more parts of Nebraska.

It currently operates in Lincoln and Omaha.

The 4G network provides faster internet speeds.

They're hoping to have the technology in all their markets by 2013.
