One person was injured and a house completely destroyed in a house fire Wednesday morning in Grand Island at Kuester Lake Road.

The home started fire early Wednesday morning at 6:45. The fire chief of the rural Grand Island fire department says they believe the fire started in the attic

Three occupants were inside at the time and were able to escape, it was family of three, two adults and one adult son, the adult son had minor injuries to his hands as he tried to remove items from the home as they escaped.

Chief Hoffman of the rural fire department says the house and its contents are a total loss.

"It's a single story house; the house has been added onto several times. As a result of the additions it makes it difficult for us to open a house up and get to the fire in the attic areas that are isolated," said Chief Hoffman.

There was man power from the city of Grand Island, Doniphan, Alda and St Libory, the fire was deep seated in the attic

They need to get into those structures and contents and we'll have more on the cause of the fire on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.
