Fire fundraiser comes to Adams County Fairgrounds

There will be fire at the Adams County Fairgrounds this weekend, but it isn't what you think. Randy Ruhter joined News 5 Tuesday morning to talk about the Adams County Lutheran Education Association and a fundraiser for them.

Chris Schukei: First, tell us what Fire breaks down to be.

Randy Ruhter: Fire is the fundraiser for the Adams County Lutheran Education Association which supports parochial education for the two Lutheran schools located in Adams County which is Christ Lutheran in Juniata as well as Zion Lutheran out on Marian Road.

Chris: And this is a chance to not only raise funds for them, but also a great way to see what's going on with the schools and great activities going on.

Randy: Absolutely. It's a great place for us to showcase the two schools and the type of educational opportunities that we're providing for kids through scholarships and curriculum updates as well as a lot of other programs to support those schools.

Chris: The event is Saturday night. It's a great meal, there's some entertainment and then something you know a lot about - some auction is part that. Some great items.

Randy: Absolutely. We have a live auction as well as a silent auction and we've got some great items this year. There's a trip to Estes Park for a week, there's a Hawaiian trip. There's beef and pork packages. Just a full array of great opportunities on both the silent and live auctions.

Chris: Andi f you want a preview of some of those products, Friday night is the night, is that right?

Randy: Yes, from 6:00 until 8:00 we'll have a preview. The silent auction will be open Friday night so if you can't come to the event but would like to bid on some of the items to support us that would be a possibility.

Chris: And the tickets are going fast, but they are still available. Tell people where they can get them.

Randy: Typically, we sell out the 500 tickets. We have just a few left. You can get those by contacting Zion. You can call them at 402-462-5012 or Chris Lutheran at 744-4991. Or you can pick them up at our Ruhter Auction Realty office on Highway 6.
