Senator Mike Flood announces he is withdrawing from the 2014 governor's race. The Associated Press reports that Flood made the announcement at the Capitol in Lincoln Thursday morning.

Flood says his wife, Mandi, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this week, and while he is hopeful for the future of Nebraska, his first commitment is to his family.

Flood plans to return home to Norfolk and take care of his wife and his two boys.
