Flooding causes Amtrak route delays

Flooding along the Missouri River has closed highways. Now, it's affecting railways...again.

The flooding is disrupting two Amtrak routes including the California Zephyr line that runs through Hastings, Holdrege, and McCook.

Service Wednesday and Thursday will be affected.

Amtrak says flooding in the Omaha area has made it hard to get all the crews and railcars it needs.

But, that disruption will only affect the train scheduled to leave Emeryville Calif., Wednesday.

The return trip west is scheduled to depart from Chicago on Thursday.
Affected passengers are encouraged to call 1-800-USA-RAIL for updates.

Amtrak is also suspending its Empire Builder service between St. Paul, Minn., and Havre, Mont., until further notice.
