Former GI council member Sorenson dies

He'll always be remembered for his years of service to the city of Grand Island. This weekend, former council member Bob Sorenson died.

Sorenson served on city council for nearly 24 years. He served the Northeast side of Grand Island.

One of Sorenson's biggest accomplishments was he started girls softball leagues in Grand Island.

Fields in Grand Island are named after him for his contributions.
Bob never stopped working for his community.

He most recently played a big role for senior citizens in making sure money was devoted to the Grand Generation Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island.
