Former Miss America comes down with illness

While most people are dealing with the flu, Nebraska's former Miss America Teresa Scanlan is dealing with Dengue Fever.

The 19 year old told the North Platte Telegraph that she volunteered in Haiti over Christmas break and was apparently infected by mosquitoes.

Scanlan says she started feeling sick last week.

She's now resting at her home in Virginia where she attends college.

If you were hoping to see the former Miss America on TV during the pageant this weekend you're out of luck. She says she now can't attend.
